Our Commitment to Improving Health Outcomes for moms and babies in Arkansas

Every baby and their mother deserves to be healthy and happy. Arkansas has the nation’s third-highest infant death rate, highlighting the need for quality maternal and child healthcare in Arkansas.  Blue and You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas has made a commitment to improve health outcomes for moms and babies. The Foundation has been working with hospitals, nonprofits and community leaders to share knowledge, resources and experiences.

Improve Health Outcomes

Heartland Forward has launched its Maternal and Child Health Center for Policy and Practice (MCH CPP). The MCH CPP aims to bring these groups together over the next five years. In May, the Blue & You Foundation announced its support in the creation of the center over the first two years. Then, Blue & You will work with them to identify the best ways to improve maternal and child health.

“The Maternal and Child Health Center for Policy and Practice represents a collaboration of dedicated organizations and people committed to improving the health of moms and babies. We are honored to join Heartland Forward, Governor Sarah Sanders and regional stakeholders striving to improve the lives of families in rural and underserved communities through meaningful work backed by proven research,” said Rebecca Pittillo, foundation president.

Alongside Governor Sanders’ executive order and the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act, MCH CPP will work with partners, local leaders, healthcare providers and community organizations. Collectively, they will close gaps in care and find solutions. The work will focus especially in rural areas where providing care can be particularly challenging.

This collaboration can be a powerful catalyst in enhancing maternal and child health by addressing the unique challenges in rural areas and ensuring that every mother and child receives the vital care they deserve.
